New regulations, visa changes and initiatives come into effect in UAE
From 1 October, residents of the United Arab Emirates will be facing several important changes, including new regulations, health initiatives and outdoor activities.
Starting Tuesday, a new artificial intelligence-based traffic monitoring system will go live in Ajman. Drivers will be recorded by cameras for mobile phone use behind the wheel, as well as seatbelt violations.
Travel enthusiasts will be interested to know that Sri Lanka plans to introduce visa-free entry for citizens of 35 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia and India, from October 1. The initiative is aimed at boosting tourism and will also apply to citizens of countries such as the US, UK, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
In addition, the Dubai Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA) has introduced new rules governing how virtual asset service providers (VASPs) can advertise their services. These regulations also came into effect on 1 October. The updated regulations provide clear compliance guidelines when promoting virtual assets in Dubai. Particular emphasis is placed on protecting consumers by ensuring that marketing materials are accurate, there is no misleading information and disclosure is transparent.
The Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) initiative will also launch on 1 October, offering free mammograms or clinical screenings at mobile clinics. The first screening will take place at Naema petrol station in Al Ain from 15:00 to 21:00.
