‘Green’ charging stations to be launched in Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah authorities announced on Monday 14 October that ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) will soon be installed across the emirate.
National company UAEV has signed an agreement with the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) to install and operate the green stations.
UAEV will oversee all aspects of the project, from installation and maintenance to providing the necessary technology for data management. The agreement was signed by Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, UAEV board member, and Ismail Hassan Al Bloushi, CEO of RAKTA.
Mr Al Ali said: ‘We fully support the UAE’s Net Zero strategy and endeavour to promote sustainable mobility through a variety of projects and initiatives targeting key sectors in the country.’
He also emphasised: ‘Our collaboration with RAKTA will significantly reduce emissions from the transport sector, boost economic growth and preserve the environment, and strengthen the UAE’s global leadership in sustainable mobility.’
Mr Al Ali also highlighted that the agreement will facilitate the transition to increased use of electric vehicles through the development of modern and affordable infrastructure. The initiative will help residents make clean transport choices by encouraging the use of sustainable technologies and raising awareness.
Mr Al Bloushi said, ‘The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority is committed to increasing collaboration with our partners to advance national efforts to achieve a climate-neutral strategy by 2050. Our agreement with UAEV is an important step in this journey as we work together to transition to sustainable transport.’
