UAE to reward active parents
Parents whose children attend public schools can now receive various rewards for being involved in their children’s academic life. Although only government schools will initially introduce the programme, there is talk of expanding it in the future.
The Danat Behaviour programme offers rewards in the form of gift vouchers for homework help, community service, participation in school and sports activities and cultural programmes.
Participation in the programme will be through a smart app that allows families to earn points for completing tasks. The reward system is designed to engage both parents and children. Points earned can be redeemed for various prizes at local venues.
The initiative is designed to encourage collaboration between children, parents and public schools. For example, points can be earned when families help children with homework. Community service or attendance at school events will also earn them extra points. Contributions will be evaluated by teachers.
This creates comprehensive feedback from students, parents, and educators. Students report their actions, parents report their involvement, and teachers evaluate the impact of those actions on academic and social development.
The programme is currently being tested in a school in Abu Dhabi, with an official launch scheduled for the first half of 2025.
The programme’s creators say it aims not only to improve academic performance, but also to strengthen family ties and foster a sense of social responsibility in students.
