Winter camping season kicks off in Dubai
The winter camping season will start in Dubai from 21 October and will run until the end of April 2025.
According to the emirate’s authorities, the location of this season’s temporary camping zones in Al Aweera will offer a safe and well-equipped environment for families and individuals to enjoy Dubai’s unique desert landscape during the cooler months.
During the camping season, camping permits can be obtained for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months, and the weekly permit fee is 44 fils per square metre with a maximum of 400 square metres per camp.
Applications for permits can be submitted through Dubai Municipality’s website, the Dubai Now app and the Dubai Building Permit System.
The authority will issue documents to applicants that specify the boundaries and specific requirements for setting up the camp. Permit holders can set up their camps in the designated area, subject to safety regulations and limiting activities to camping and family activities. Campsites must be fenced and unauthorised use or construction outside of the permitted boundaries is not permitted.
It is worth recalling that campgrounds are prohibited from setting off fireworks, public health and safety standards must be followed, grounds must be kept clean, and fire safety measures must be enforced, including the mandatory use of fire extinguishers. There is also a 20km/h speed limit and a ban on loudspeakers in the camping area.
