Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed awards grant to fishermen

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, Deputy Prime Minister and UAE Minister of Defence, announced a Dh27 million grant to fishing enthusiasts.

The aim of the grant is to support fishermen engaged in traditional artisanal fishing, which will contribute to a sustainable increase in the emirate’s fish stocks. The grants will be awarded by the Environment and Climate Change Authority and the Dubai Fishermen’s Co-operative Society.

Meanwhile, Dubai launched its winter camping season on 21 October, which will run until the end of April 2025. Applications for camping permits can be submitted through Dubai Municipality’s website, Dubai Now app and the Dubai Building Permit System.

Permit holders can set up their campsites in the allocated area, subject to safety regulations and limiting activities to camping and family activities. Campsites must be fenced and unauthorised use or construction outside the permitted boundaries is not allowed.

Campgrounds are prohibited from setting off fireworks, must comply with public health and safety standards, keep the grounds clean, and provide fire safety measures, including mandatory use of fire extinguishers. There is also a 20 km/h speed limit and a ban on loudspeakers in the camping area.
