Celebrations announced in Sharjah
Sharjah authorities have published an exciting programme of celebrations to mark the 53rd National Day of the United Arab Emirates. Celebrations to mark the main bank holidays will take place from 21 November to 2 December 2024.
Residents and visitors to Sharjah will be treated to a range of festive events in cultural and tourist locations, as well as entertainment to suit all tastes. On 21 November, celebrations will begin at the Mleiha Heritage Village. Guests will be treated to a national parade, folklore and theatre performances, and competitions.
Families can showcase locally made products in the national marquee, and government agencies will present their services. A play area will be set up for children. On 22 November, festivities, including a poetry evening and fireworks, will take place in Al Madam village.
From 22 to 24 November, guests will be treated to entertainment in front of the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, including art workshops, children’s activities, poetry readings and traditional performances, as well as a colourful performance by the Al Mazyood Military Band.
From 23 November, the festivities will come to the Dibba Al Hisn area, with a parade at 4pm followed by folklore performances, and a national operetta and folklore performances after evening prayers. A similar programme has been drawn up for Wadi Al Helo on 24 November, which will combine the country’s traditions with contemporary creativity.
On 27 November, the national march will take place in the town of Al Daid, where colourful performances by folklore groups are scheduled from 28 November to 1 December. On 27 and 28 November, UAE National Day will be celebrated in Al Hamriyah.
The programme will include folk songs, interactive workshops for children and an entertainment session for senior citizens, as well as a parade called ‘Journey of a Nation’.
From 28 to 30 November, the celebrations will take place in Al Batai. The programme will include a traditional folklore parade with the participation of government agencies, local residents, schools and art groups.
Traditional art exhibitions will be organised in local parks, volunteers will distribute national flags, and there will be a horse parade and vintage car rally.
On 1 December, a charity music event will be held at the Korfakkan Amphitheatre, with proceeds from ticket sales going to charity, namely supporting children in need around the world.
