Jaan Roose performs grandiose stunt in Dubai
Famous Estonian tightrope walker Jaan Roose has performed a new extreme crossing – on a 100-metre rope stretched at a height of over 200 metres between the skyscrapers of Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai.
The slackliner performed several stunts during the crossing and even laid down on the rope. Jaan Roose had to actually climb ‘uphill’, because the difference in height between the start and finish points was 5 metres.
A three-time world champion, Jaan holds numerous world records in his sport. Last year, the Red Bull athlete walked a colossal 3.6 kilometres across the Strait of Messina, which connects Sicily to mainland Italy, on a 1.9 cm thick rope.
This weekend he walked the rope three times between skyscrapers in Dubai: in the early morning, at midday in public and at sunset. On the rope, he jumped, moved and even lay down to give the spectators the maximum amount of extreme emotion.
Jaan is also the first and only athlete to perform a double backflip on the rope. In September 2024, the Estonian slackliner covered more than a kilometre over the Bosphorus Strait at a height of 165 metres, becoming the first person in the world to cross from one part of the world to another on a rope.
