Golden Visa

UAE names main reasons for rejection of Golden Visa

The Golden Visa programme in the United Arab Emirates, launched in May 2019, has attracted many investors, entrepreneurs and professionals seeking long-term residency.

However, despite the attractive conditions, many visa applications are rejected, with one of the main reasons for rejection being the short duration of employment with the same company. Immigration authorities emphasise that a minimum of two years’ experience in the same organisation is required to successfully obtain a visa. This requirement has become mandatory under the new rules.

In addition, there are many other reasons why applications may be rejected. One common one is incorrect job title. If the position does not fulfil the requirements for a golden visa, this may be grounds for refusal. It is also important that the applicant has a legalised diploma, as the lack of one can also lead to rejection.

Another reason may be that the salary does not meet the criteria. If the salary is not clearly stated in the bank statements, it may raise doubts with the immigration authorities. Employers should transfer salaries through the WPS system or explicitly state the purpose of the bank transfer as ‘salary’ to avoid misunderstandings.

Incomplete or improperly certified documents can also be a reason for refusal. Qualifications must be properly certified and legalised, as well as undergoing equivalency procedures. If there are inconsistencies in the documents provided, such as between salary transfers and an official employment contract, this can lead to rejection.

Problems with immigration status can also be a major obstacle: for example, if the applicant has an expired visa or unpaid fines. In addition, applicants must demonstrate financial stability and sufficient funds to support themselves and their dependents.

Having a criminal record or being under law enforcement surveillance can also be a reason for visa denial, as can not having health insurance for oneself and family members.
