Coin collectors and lovers of unique souvenirs from the United Arab Emirates can rejoice at a new offering. In honour of the 50th anniversary of the Central Bank, a special silver coin depicting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has been released.

More than just a collector’s item, the coin symbolises the achievements of the UAE Central Bank and its significant contribution to the development of the country’s banking and financial sector over the past five decades. During this time, the Central Bank has played a key role in establishing a stable and efficient financial system, making the UAE one of the leading financial centres in the region.

Only three thousand pieces of the commemorative coin have been issued, each weighing 60 grams. The main design of the coin includes a portrait of the President, around which is written his name in Arabic, as well as the phrase ‘President of the United Arab Emirates’. The reverse side of the coin features the UAE Central Bank building, as well as the inscription ‘50 Years of the UAE Central Bank’ on the top and bottom faces in Arabic and English. The years 1973-2023 and the coin’s face value of AED 50 are also indicated.

The coin can be purchased for AED 650 through the UAE Central Bank’s new digital service on its official website. The price of the coin includes all shipping costs, making the purchase process even more convenient for buyers.

In addition, other commemorative coins are also available on the government body’s website and can be purchased by logging in via UAE Pass. This is a great opportunity for those looking to add unique items related to UAE history and culture to their collection.
