Women’s teams show great results at UAE SWAT Challenge 2025

The UAE SWAT Challenge 2025 Championship marked a major milestone with five women’s teams, both local and international, competing on par with their male counterparts.

The event, organised by the UAE Ministry of Interior and supported by Dubai Police, brought together teams from around the world to showcase the skills of law enforcement officers in challenging tactical tests. The teams competed in conditions that were as close to real-life crime-fighting situations as possible.

Lieutenant Latifa Al Salman, who heads the Dubai Police women’s team, expressed pride in the women’s achievements in the competition. She recalled that during their team’s debut in the competition, they were ranked tenth out of 55 male teams. Latifa emphasised that the increasing number of women’s teams from different countries confirms the growing reputation of the event and underscores the importance of the presence of women in law enforcement.

Kazakhstan’s Tomiris women’s team made its debut at this prestigious competition among 11 teams from various law enforcement agencies across the country. Team member Balnur Kyalbekova confidently stated: ‘We are delighted to represent Kazakhstan at this prestigious global event after the success of our male colleagues last year.’ She noted that Kazakhstan has become the leading country in terms of the number of participants, and emphasised how important early preparation and careful selection are to success.

Brazilian women’s team leader Carla Nastri noted that their participation was inspired by the experience of their colleagues and emphasised the importance of sharing practical skills between law enforcement agencies in different countries. She also revealed that the team members had been preparing for the competition for six months in order to honourably represent Brazil.

UAE SWAT Challenge 2025 demonstrated a global shift in the approach to women’s participation in tactical sports, where they are making significant strides.
