First 3D-printed boat built in Dubai

Dubai has unveiled the first boat fully printed on a 3D printer. It is made from recycled plastic materials – ocean waste that has undergone a recycling process.

The 10-metre boat is called Cyberfin and took six days and nine hours to build. Measuring 10 metres long, 2.1 metres wide and 2.7 metres high, the boat is designed to transport 10 people and is already registered with the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA).

The company said that thanks to the innovative technology they can print 6-7 boats per month and thus turn Dubai into a centre for 3D printed marine solutions. It is worth noting that traditional boat production takes three to four months.

In addition, the cost of a 3D printed boat such as Cyberfin is about a third of the cost of a conventional speedboat. In addition, new technologies contribute to environmental protection and increase the sustainability of the economy.

Dubai will host the Dubai International Boat Show, the largest boat show in the world, from 19 to 23 February. The annual maritime exhibition will welcome more than 200 yachts and vessels from world-renowned boatbuilders in one of the region’s most modern marinas.

New additions include an Innovation Zone for start-ups, coastal project demonstrations from leading property companies, and a brokerage division featuring industry giants such as Burgess, Behnemar and Royal Yachts.

World-renowned brands such as Azimut, Ferretti, Gulf Craft, Sunseeker and Yachts One are set to showcase the latest developments and most innovative products in the global marine sector.
