UAE Farmer Invites Visitors to Explore Unique Flower Garden
Emirati farmer Mohammed Obaid Al Mazroui has turned his decade-long passion for flowers into a thriving farm, where 50,000 plants bloom simultaneously. Located in the Aisima area of Ras Al Khaimah, the farm opened to visitors in 2020 and quickly gained popularity due to its stunning variety of flowers.
Mr. Al Mazroui’s journey began over ten years ago when, as a schoolboy, he dreamed of owning his own flower farm. His fascination led him to study various flower farms online and eventually travel to Europe, where he collected seeds to bring back to the UAE. These seeds flourished, inspiring him to import more from the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Italy. Despite skepticism from many about the possibility of growing such flowers in the UAE’s climate, his determination and perseverance paid off, allowing him to cultivate rare and unique varieties.
This season, Mr. Al Mazroui introduced new varieties from Switzerland, hoping they will thrive in his farm’s environment. One of his most notable achievements is the successful cultivation of lavender, which he planted last year and has since withstood the intense summer heat.
The farmer now dreams of establishing local production of lavender oil, a highly sought-after ingredient in the perfume and cosmetics industries. His farm is open to visitors daily from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM, except on Fridays when it opens after prayer. Admission costs 15 dirhams for adults, while children under three and people with special needs can enter for free.
Before dedicating himself to the flower farm, Mr. Al Mazroui managed an agricultural nursery, producing seedlings for other farms and growing vegetables. His agronomic knowledge comes from his father, who instilled in him a love for agriculture from a young age.
Visitors to the farm have been captivated by its beauty, describing it as a tranquil escape into another world. In addition to the breathtaking floral displays, guests can enjoy horseback riding, observe various bird species and peacocks, and relax at a cozy café.
Mr. Al Mazroui’s farm is not just a testament to his passion and hard work but also a unique destination that offers a serene and enchanting experience for all who visit.
