Hag Al Laila

Global Village Celebrates Hag Al Laila

Dubai’s Global Village is embracing the Emirati tradition of Hag Al Laila for the first time, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in this cultural celebration, which will run until February 16. The park has been transformed into a festive space adorned with decorations inspired by Emirati heritage, including palm fronds, lanterns, and traditional seating areas. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities, from traditional performances and interactive workshops to receiving sweet treats, all designed to highlight the rich culture of the UAE.

Sweets play a central role in Hag Al Laila, and Global Village is offering an array of delicious treats from around the world. Visitors can indulge in Middle Eastern favorites such as baklava and halwa, as well as chocolates, gummy candies, and other delightful confections. The celebration is a feast for the senses, combining flavors and traditions from different cultures.

For younger visitors, the park has organized special events featuring characters from the animated series The Nomads. These meet-and-greet sessions take place between the main stage and Dragon Lake, providing a fun and engaging experience for children.

In addition to the festivities, Global Village is offering a range of unique souvenirs that reflect Emirati culture. From incense sets and beautiful tableware to stylish bags and decorative items, these keepsakes make perfect gifts and are ideal for home decoration during Ramadan.

Hag Al Laila, also known as Kargeen, is a cherished tradition in the UAE and other Gulf countries, marking the approach of the holy month of Ramadan. The customs of this celebration have remained unchanged over the years. Children dressed in traditional attire sing songs and collect sweets from noon until sunset. Emirati families decorate their homes in vibrant colors and distribute special treats such as nuts and chocolates to children, keeping the spirit of the festival alive.

This celebration at Global Village not only honors Emirati heritage but also provides a platform for visitors to experience the warmth and hospitality of UAE culture. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with traditions that have been passed down through generations, making it a memorable event for all who attend.
