Blue Visa Program

UAE Launches First Phase of Blue Visa Program

At the 2025 World Governments Summit, the United Arab Emirates announced the launch of the first phase of its groundbreaking Blue Visa program, offering a 10-year residency to individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), will initially grant the visa to twenty distinguished environmental advocates and innovators.

The Blue Visa is designed to recognize and reward those who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to sustainability, both within the UAE and globally. Eligible candidates include members of international organizations, employees of global companies, representatives of associations and non-governmental organizations, as well as prominent activists and researchers in the field of environmental conservation.

Applications for the Blue Visa can be submitted through the ICP’s official online platform, smartservices.icp.gov.ae. To qualify, applicants must provide supporting documents that highlight their achievements in sustainability and environmental protection, a passport valid for at least six months, and a recent photograph with a white background.

The application process begins with a nomination request, which must be approved by a competent UAE authority. The nomination request fee is 350 AED. Once approved, applicants can proceed to submit their visa application, providing all necessary personal details and uploading the required documents. Applications can also be submitted in person at ICP Customer Happiness Centers or authorized service centers.

The Blue Visa program underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering global sustainability efforts and attracting top talent in the field of environmental innovation. By offering long-term residency to eco-conscious pioneers, the UAE aims to strengthen its position as a leader in sustainable development and environmental stewardship.

This initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader vision to promote green policies and support international collaboration in addressing climate change. As the first phase of the program rolls out, the country looks forward to welcoming individuals who share its dedication to creating a more sustainable future.
