Emirates Launches Emirates Courier Express to Rival Logistics Giants
Dubai-based Emirates airline has unveiled a new premium courier service, Emirates Courier Express, leveraging its fleet of over 250 aircraft and global network to offer door-to-door delivery for businesses. The service, which promises to “treat parcels like passengers,” aims to compete with established logistics players by prioritizing speed and reliability.
Available to businesses of all sizes, the service provides tiered delivery options, including next-day and two-day premium shipping. Emirates emphasized that the product was refined through trials with clients over the past year, during which it delivered thousands of packages across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, South Africa, and the UK. Test shipments reportedly averaged under 48 hours for delivery. Initially launching in these seven countries, the airline plans to expand to other destinations in its network.
Badr Abbas, Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, described the launch as an “evolution in global cargo movement,” highlighting the service’s focus on direct routes to minimize transit stops. Unlike traditional logistics models, which often involve multiple handoffs, Emirates Courier Express will utilize the airline’s existing infrastructure and partnerships to streamline customs clearance, first-mile pickup, and last-mile delivery. This integrated approach, the company claims, will help maintain stable pricing despite seasonal demand fluctuations.
The move marks Emirates’ latest push to diversify its cargo operations, which already handle significant global freight volumes. By combining its air fleet with local logistics partners, the airline aims to carve a niche in the competitive express delivery market. Analysts suggest the service could appeal to businesses seeking alternatives to giants like DHL or FedEx, particularly in regions where Emirates has strong connectivity.
While pricing details remain undisclosed, the airline emphasized flexibility and scalability as key advantages. As e-commerce and cross-border trade grow, Emirates’ entry into express logistics signals its ambition to transform from a passenger and freight carrier into a full-service global supply chain player.
