Aion Sentia: Abu Dhabi to Build World’s First Full-Scale AI-Powered City
Abu Dhabi has announced an ambitious new project—Aion Sentia, the world’s first city designed from the ground up to be fully integrated with artificial intelligence. With a budget of $3.3 billion, the futuristic metropolis is set to open in 2027 as a cornerstone of the emirate’s digital transformation strategy.
Ahmed Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Digital Government Department, revealed that the initiative will embed AI into every aspect of urban life, from governance to infrastructure. The city will feature autonomous transportation, predictive healthcare, energy-efficient systems, and AI-driven management, all optimized for sustainability and innovation.
Authorities project that Aion Sentia will contribute over $6.5 billion to Abu Dhabi’s GDP by 2027 while creating more than 5,000 jobs in cutting-edge fields such as cybersecurity, robotics, data management, and AI ethics. The project is being developed in collaboration with leading research institutions, including the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, the Advanced Technology Research Council, and tech giant G42.
The initiative aims to solidify Abu Dhabi’s position as a global leader in advanced technology and serve as a blueprint for smart, sustainable urban development. Officials describe it as a groundbreaking leap in the evolution of digital cities, one that will redefine economic growth, public services, and even daily life.
Once completed, Aion Sentia could set a new standard for how AI shapes the cities of tomorrow.
