Bangladeshi Electrician Wins Big in UAE’s Million-Dollar Lottery
A 43-year-old Bangladeshi electrician living in the UAE for 14 years has become a multi-millionaire overnight after winning 25 million dirhams in the Big Ticket lottery. The lucky man, who has been playing the lottery for 12 years, purchased the winning ticket with a group of friends at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Overwhelmed with emotion, the winner admitted he could hardly believe his luck. For over a decade, he had dreamed of this moment and now plans to share the prize with his five friends. He also intends to build a family home in Bangladesh, fulfilling a long-held wish.
In the same draw, another lucky winner, Geethamma, a Dubai resident originally from Kerala, India, drove away with a brand-new Nissan Patrol. Her husband, a longtime UAE resident, introduced the family to the Big Ticket lottery 30 years ago, and they have been playing together ever since.
The Big Ticket lottery continues to offer life-changing opportunities, with its next grand draw on August 3 featuring a 20 million dirham jackpot. Six additional winners will each receive 50,000 dirhams, following June’s prizes of 150,000 dirhams awarded to several participants.
From July 1 to 24, the Big Win promotion gives buyers of two or more tickets in a single transaction a chance to enter a special draw. Four participants will be selected for a live broadcast, where they can win between 20,000 and 150,000 dirhams.
For many expats in the UAE, the Big Ticket lottery represents hope—and for some, like this Bangladeshi electrician, it turns dreams into reality.
