Dubai Opens T100 Triathlon Weekend to Amateur Athletes
Dubai is set to host the second edition of the Dubai T100 Triathlon Weekend from November 13th to 16th, 2025. Organized by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) in partnership with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), this year’s event marks a significant expansion by opening registration to amateur athletes for the first time.
Building on the success of its inaugural year, organizers plan to make the 2025 event larger and more engaging. Amateur participants will have the chance to compete in two distances: the demanding 100km full course (featuring a 2km swim, 80km bike ride, and 18km run) and a shorter sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run).
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, highlighted the event’s strategic importance, stating it reflects Dubai’s commitment to strengthening its position in sports tourism and aligns with the goals of the D33 economic strategy. He emphasized that the strong foundation laid last year enables the event’s expansion, attracting more international participants and positively impacting the city’s economy.
Eisa Sharif, Director of Sports Events at DSC, outlined further enhancements, including expanding all three race categories. New for 2025 are dedicated events aimed at boosting community involvement: a school challenge and a corporate relay. These additions aim to promote healthy lifestyles and wider participation across Dubai’s society.
The inaugural Dubai T100 in 2024 featured elite professional triathletes, including Olympic champions, and crowned its first T100 World Champions – Belgium’s Marten Van Riel and American Taylor Knibb.
Sam Renouf, CEO of the PTO, expressed delight at the event’s return and its new opportunities: “We were thrilled with the success of the first Dubai T100 and are delighted to be returning in 2025… We are particularly excited to open the event to amateur triathletes and corporate teams for the first time, allowing them to experience the thrill of racing on the same course as the world’s best triathletes.” This expansion positions the Dubai T100 Weekend as a major event catering to both elite professionals and the broader triathlon community.
