Dubai Mallathon Enters Guinness World Records

The Dubai Mallathon fitness initiative, held across nine shopping malls in Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, concluded on Sunday with extraordinary success. This city-wide event transformed shopping centers into indoor running tracks, attracting over 40,000 participants and establishing itself as one of the largest sporting events in the emirate.

The final stage at Dubai Hills Mall set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of participants in a mall race, with 1,392 people of different ages and nationalities taking part in the mass start. Over 31 days, participants collectively walked more than 120 million steps along safe, air-conditioned tracks in what became both a sporting and community celebration.

The event culminated with a traditional 42-kilometer marathon featuring forty runners across various categories. Victor Kiprono emerged as the overall winner, followed by Godfrey Segule in second place. Third place went to Rayo Watson, who represented the category for people of determination. Winners received prizes aimed at supporting their athletic development.

The initiative featured additional city races and a special women’s run in honor of Emirati Women’s Day. The participation of youth councils from across the UAE and numerous government departments gave the project a truly national character, highlighting the importance of youth engagement and sports in promoting physical and mental wellbeing.

Supported by the Ministry of Defense and the Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai Mallathon formed part of the National Strategy “Year of Communities,” the Dubai Social Agenda 33, and the Quality of Life Strategy 2033. These initiatives aim to build a healthy, cohesive society and establish sports as a daily habit for all residents.
