UAE Launches National AI Platform K2 Think
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has endorsed the launch of the national artificial intelligence platform K2 Think, which will become available in the very near future. The platform was developed by the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and the technology company G42.
K2 Think is positioned to become the world’s most advanced open AI model specialized in logic and reasoning capabilities. Sheikh Mohamed emphasized that the UAE continues to confidently invest in modern technologies and harness their potential for national development. Notably, the platform is described as “more compact and smarter” compared to similar models while demonstrating superior performance to its closest competitors.
The platform distinguishes itself through high efficiency, flexibility, and a broad range of practical applications across various sectors. This development aligns with the UAE’s strategic focus on establishing itself as a global leader in artificial intelligence and advanced technology.
According to research published in August by American company TRG Datacentres, the UAE and Saudi Arabia ranked among the world’s top three leaders in artificial intelligence, trailing only the United States while surpassing South Korea, France, India, China, and the United Kingdom. The launch of K2 Think further solidifies the UAE’s position in the global AI landscape.
