Dubai Hosts 119th Open Auction for Distinctive Number Plates

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is set to host its 119th open auction for exclusive vehicle license plates, offering residents a chance to acquire a distinctive numeric combination. The event, scheduled for Saturday, September 27th at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, will begin at 4:30 PM. A total of 90 premium plates featuring two, three, four, and five-digit combinations will be available for private cars, classic vehicles, and motorcycles.

The plates up for bid come with a variety of codes, including the highly sought-after AA and BB, as well as K, L, M, N, P, Q, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z. Among the standout lots expected to attract significant attention are the super plates BB 88 and BB 777, which are anticipated to be the highlights of the auction.

Prospective bidders are advised that the registration process is already underway, having started on Monday, September 22nd. Interested participants can submit their applications through the official RTA website or by visiting one of the customer service centers located in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha. Due to limited space at the venue, priority will be given to those who have registered in advance. However, on-the-spot registration will also be available at the auction hall starting from 2:00 PM on the day of the event.

The RTA has also outlined the financial requirements for participation. All participants must have a valid Dubai traffic file. A refundable security cheque of 25,000 AED made out to the RTA is required, along with a non-refundable registration fee of 120 AED. Payments can be made at the customer happiness centers or via the RTA’s online portal. It is important to note that all final transactions for the purchase of the number plates will be subject to a 5% Value Added Tax (VAT). This auction continues a popular tradition in Dubai, where unique license plates are considered valuable assets and status symbols.
