UAE to Make Historic Debut at Miss Universe 2025
The United Arab Emirates is set to make its first-ever appearance on the Miss Universe stage, represented by Mariam Mohamed, who was recently crowned Miss Universe UAE 2025. The 26-year-old Emirati won the national title after a rigorous selection process involving hundreds of contestants and will now compete in the international pageant in Thailand later this year.
In her first statements as a titleholder, Mariam expressed her profound gratitude to the UAE for instilling in her the confidence to dream. She stated that her goal is to become a voice for ambitious, curious, and determined women, emphasizing that the role of Miss Universe UAE transcends beauty and is fundamentally about creating a positive impact.
Mariam is a highly accomplished individual, holding a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Sydney and currently studying fashion design at ESMOD Dubai. Her platform is built on a mission to combat poverty, empower women, and foster communities built on love and peace. She actively embodies these values through her work in sustainable fashion and her participation in charitable initiatives like Ramadan Aman and The Giving Family Initiative. Her diverse interests, which range from traditional practices like falconry and horse riding to global cultural exchange, reflect her unique ability to blend heritage with innovation.
As she prepares for the global competition, Mariam hopes to inspire a new generation of Emirati women. Poppy Cappella, Director of Miss Universe UAE, noted that Mariam stood out among over 950 applicants not only for her eloquence and vision but for her profound pride in Emirati culture and her commitment to representing the nation’s values of empowerment and progress on the world stage.
