Abu Dhabi Launches Prestigious 19th Al Dhafra Heritage Festival

The 19th edition of the Al Dhafra Festival has officially commenced in Abu Dhabi, marking one of the most significant cultural gatherings in the region. This expansive event, a vibrant celebration of Emirati heritage, is set to run until January 22, 2026, featuring a diverse array of traditional competitions and artistic displays.

With a staggering total prize pool exceeding 94.4 million dirhams, the festival is a major draw for participants and visitors alike. The program includes 17 distinct competitions, with the iconic camel beauty contests taking center stage. These are complemented by a date competition and various craft exhibitions that showcase the skilled artistry inherent to the region’s culture.

A particular highlight for attendees is the exquisite handicrafts exposition. Here, female artisans demonstrate remarkable skill by transforming simple palm fronds into stunningly realistic floral arrangements and intricate pictures. This display not only highlights their creativity but also plays a vital role in preserving and promoting traditional Emirati crafts for a global audience.

In all, more than 4,800 prizes will be awarded throughout the festival’s duration, solidifying Al Dhafra’s status as one of the UAE’s premier cultural and sporting events. By attracting thousands of participants and international tourists each year, the festival continues to stand as a powerful symbol of the nation’s rich cultural heritage and enduring creative spirit.
