Queen Rania shares new photos with twin granddaughters
Queen Rania of Jordan has shared a series of new family photographs featuring her newborn twin granddaughters, Talia and Rania, including one baby who was named in her honour.
The twins were born on August 14, 2026, to Princess Iman and her husband, Jameel Thermiotis. Their arrival came as a surprise to the public, as although Princess Iman’s pregnancy had previously been announced, the royal family had not revealed that she was expecting twins.
Queen Rania welcomes two new granddaughters
The Royal Hashemite Court officially announced the birth of the twins on August 14, confirming that Princess Iman and Jameel Thermiotis had welcomed two baby girls.
A few days later, new portraits were released showing King Abdullah II and Queen Rania spending time with their granddaughters.
Queen Rania also shared the images on her Instagram account, celebrating the arrival of the newest members of the family.
The babies were named Talia and Rania, with the second name chosen as a direct tribute to their grandmother.
A special family tribute
Naming one of the twins Rania adds a particularly personal detail to the new chapter for the Jordanian royal family.
The family has previously continued names across generations.
When Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa welcomed their daughter in 2024, they named her Iman, the same name as Hussein’s sister, Princess Iman.
The new twins continue that tradition, connecting another generation of the family through their names.
New royal family portraits
The newly released photographs offer a relaxed look at the family after the twins’ arrival.
In one image, Queen Rania is seen holding both Talia and Rania at the same time.
Other photographs show King Abdullah holding one of his new granddaughters, while another portrait captures the royal couple alongside the twins’ older sister, Amina.
Princess Iman also appears in the photographs in casual clothing, holding one of her newborn daughters.
The images present a noticeably informal side of the royal family, focusing on the first days of the twins’ lives rather than an official ceremonial appearance.
Princess Iman becomes a mother of three
Princess Iman, 29, is the eldest daughter of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania.
She married Greek-Venezuelan businessman Jameel Thermiotis in March 2023.
The couple welcomed their first daughter, Amina, in February 2025.
With the arrival of Talia and Rania, they are now parents to three daughters.
Queen Rania had publicly revealed her daughter’s second pregnancy in July, but the fact that twins were expected remained private until the official birth announcement.
Jordan’s royal family continues to grow
King Abdullah and Queen Rania are also parents to Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Salma and Prince Hashem.
The birth of Princess Iman’s twins further expands a new generation of the Hashemite family, following several recent royal births.
Although Talia, Rania and their older sister Amina are granddaughters of King Abdullah, they are not part of Jordan’s line of succession, which traditionally passes through the male descendants of the Hashemite dynasty.
For the family, however, the latest photographs are focused far less on royal protocol and much more on a private milestone.
The images capture Queen Rania and King Abdullah simply enjoying their newest roles as grandparents — and welcoming two more members into an increasingly large royal family.
