MrBeast and global creators help transform Ghana village through UAE-backed initiative

MrBeast has joined 20 international content creators in a major humanitarian project that has transformed a rural village in Ghana, bringing clean water, classrooms, electricity, school meals and a new healthcare clinic to more than 1,000 residents.

The project was carried out through the 1 Billion Acts of Kindness campaign, launched at Dubai’s 1 Billion Followers Summit in January 2026 with support from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the Varkey Foundation and Beast Industries, the entertainment company founded by Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast.

A village facing major challenges

The community, located in Ghana’s Eastern Region, is home to more than 1,062 people and relies heavily on cocoa farming.

Before the project began, residents had limited access to clean water, sanitation, healthcare and adequate educational facilities. Average household incomes were reported at between $100 and $120, while child labour rates in the area were close to 40 per cent.

School attendance was also affected, particularly during cocoa harvesting periods, when some children left classes to work on farms or stayed home because of financial difficulties.

Healthcare presented another challenge, with residents sometimes travelling for up to an hour by motorbike simply to access basic medical services.

New classrooms, meals and clean water

Rather than focusing on a single problem, organisers designed the project around five areas: education, clean water, food, healthcare and economic opportunity.

Existing classrooms were renovated while new educational facilities were built from kindergarten through junior high school.

Housing was also provided for teachers, helping the community retain staff and maintain more consistent teaching throughout the year.

School meal programmes were introduced to address hunger and reduce absenteeism, while awareness initiatives focused on keeping children in education and reducing child labour.

New water systems now give residents easier access to clean water, while latrines and handwashing facilities were installed to improve sanitation and reduce the risk of waterborne illnesses.

The project also brought electricity to the community.

New clinic treats 100 patients on opening day

One of the most important additions was a new healthcare clinic.

Previously, families faced long journeys and additional expenses whenever someone needed basic medical attention.

The new facility is designed to provide local treatment and support earlier diagnosis of conditions including malaria and respiratory infections, while improving access to medical care for women and children.

The clinic treated its first 100 patients on the day it opened.

Beyond improving healthcare access, organisers say the facility could also reduce the financial burden on families by cutting travel costs and allowing parents to spend less time away from work.

MrBeast works alongside 20 global creators

MrBeast participated in the initiative alongside 20 international creators selected during the fourth edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit.

The group worked with field teams across construction, education, healthcare, water and electricity projects.

Donaldson said the scale of the challenges facing the community became immediately clear when the creators visited the village, and the goal became turning their online reach into measurable real-world impact.

MrBeast’s platforms collectively reach more than 1.1 billion followers and generate over 62 billion views annually, according to the campaign.

Dubai’s creator economy used for social impact

The project also reflects a wider ambition behind the 1 Billion Followers Summit, which is based in Dubai and focuses on the global creator economy.

Alia Al Hammadi, Vice Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office and CEO of the summit, said the Ghana initiative demonstrates how digital media and content creators can be used to support humanitarian development rather than simply entertainment.

The idea is to use creators’ enormous audiences to direct attention towards education, healthcare and community development projects that might otherwise struggle to receive global visibility.

Transformation will be shared with millions online

The project will now continue through digital storytelling.

Behind-the-scenes videos documenting the transformation of the village — including the construction of the new clinic — are expected to be released across participating creators’ platforms.

The campaign also plans to distribute the story through a wider network of around 3,000 creators in 180 countries, with the aim of inspiring similar community projects around the world.

From Dubai platform to lasting change in Ghana

What began at a Dubai-based creator summit has now resulted in new classrooms, water systems, sanitation facilities, electricity, food programmes and healthcare infrastructure thousands of kilometres away.

For the 1 Billion Acts of Kindness campaign, the Ghana project is designed as proof that the reach of the creator economy can be converted into something more permanent than views or followers.

And with MrBeast and dozens of global creators helping bring the story to an international audience, the project could become a model for how digital influence is used to create tangible change far beyond social media.
