Abu Dhabi’s NMDC Energy secures $763 million in Saudi Aramco projects

NMDC Energy has secured new projects worth Dh2.8 billion ($763 million) from Saudi Aramco, adding a significant offshore assignment to the Abu Dhabi company’s portfolio.

The awards cover engineering, procurement and construction-related work, with completion expected within 18 to 23 months.

Announced in an October 23 disclosure to the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, the projects follow Dh2.2 billion in awards secured during the second quarter of 2026.

Offshore expertise behind the new awards

NMDC Energy provides services across the development and delivery of energy infrastructure, from engineering and procurement to fabrication, pipe laying, installation and commissioning.

Its work also includes project management, bringing several stages of a development under one contractor’s responsibility.

The new Aramco projects draw on that offshore engineering capability. The company has not disclosed further details about the individual assignments beyond their combined value, scope and expected completion period.

The awards add to a business whose project backlog stood at Dh3.3 billion at the end of June, before the latest announcement.

An Abu Dhabi business expanding its reach

A majority-owned subsidiary of NMDC Group, NMDC Energy raised Dh3.22 billion through its initial public offering in 2024. Its shares trade on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

For the first half of 2026, the company reported revenue of Dh9.5 billion and net profit of Dh251 million.

The Aramco awards provide another substantial project commitment as the business continues pursuing opportunities beyond its home market. Their delivery timetable extends over almost two years, adding to work secured earlier in 2026.

Ahmed Al Dhaheri’s international ambitions

Chief executive Ahmed Al Dhaheri has previously outlined plans to broaden NMDC Energy’s international presence.

In 2025, he identified closer collaboration with Chinese companies and opportunities in Iraq, North Africa and Nigeriaas priorities within the company’s expansion strategy.

The opportunities under consideration included both offshore and onshore energy contracts in Iraq, with a predominantly offshore focus in Nigeria.

The latest Saudi Aramco awards sit alongside those wider ambitions, giving the Abu Dhabi company a new set of projects to execute while it continues developing relationships in other energy markets.
